What is knee replacement surgery?
Knee Replacement Surgery (Total Knee Replacement) is a surgical procedure to replace the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint.
The goal of the surgery is to relieve pain and disability. The arthritic or damaged knee joint is replaced with artificial metal or plastic replacement parts called a ‘prostheses’.
The procedure is usually recommended for older patients who suffer from pain and loss of function from arthritis or have failed results from other conservative methods of knee therapy or treatment.
Typical Knee Replacement Surgery can be performed as a partial or a total knee replacement.
The goals of your knee replacement surgery are to be walking independently and undertake as many normal everyday activities as possible, be able to bend your knee to 100-120 degrees and be pain free.

ROSA® Knee Robotic Technology
ROSA® technology assists Dr Love with data collection before and during surgery in relation to your unique knee anatomy that may affect your implant fit.
This data assists to make more informed decisions and enables Dr Love to plan for and carry out a personalised surgery based upon your individual anatomical needs.
Getting a precise knee implant fit is important to your comfort and overall experience following knee replacement surgery.
During robotic knee replacement surgery
During your knee replacement surgery the ROSA® Knee robotic technology acts as a robotic assistant to Dr Love. The technology utilises a camera and optical trackers attached to your leg. If your leg moves even a fraction, the robot senses and adjusts accordingly.
